Humanizing Qualitative Methods
I am currently co-editing a book (with Hyeyoung Oh Nelson, PhD) titled Humanizing Qualitative Methods, confronting and grappling with how we center humanity and the embodied experiences of interdisciplinary researchers conducting qualitative methods. The book is expected to be published in late 2026 or early 2027.

Implementing PSH in Black & Latine Communities
With PSU’s Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative, we explored the impact of culturally-specific permanent supportive housing (PSH) for Black & Latine individuals experiencing homelessness, and the contextual factors that support or inhibit its implementation in the Portland Metro Area. Our report is published online through our funder, the National Alliance to End Homelessness.

Doubled-Up PDX
I am exploring experiences of housing insecurity and health among Hispanic/Latine immigrant shared households in the Portland Metro area. This pilot was funded by Portland State University and the National Research Center on Hispanic Children & Families. Learn more about our research group here.

Displacement Pressure & Mental Health

Social Justice & Environmental Quality - Denver
As part of an interdisciplinary community science project on air quality, we partnered with Denver residents to understand and address air pollution and construction-related disruption caused by a highway expansion project and neighborhood redevelopment. Denver Basic Income Project
I led a qualitative evaluation on the experiences of people experiencing homelessness receiving unconditional cash transfers through the Denver Basic Income Project & DU’s Center on Housing & Homelessness Research. Experiences of Public Housing Redevelopment
Using a case study of mixed-income housing development in Denver, CO, I co-led a study examining perceptions and experiences of residents undergoing HUD-sponsored public housing redevelopments. Findings are published in Social Science & Medicine and Urban Geography.

Colorado School-Based Health Centers
I co-led a study on school-based health centers (SBHCs) in Colorado, examining their impact on high school graduation rates, published in Journal of Adolescent Health, as well as their impact on contraceptive access among young adults, published in Health Promotion Practice.

Unhealthy by Design
Partnered with Denver Homeless Out Loud, I co-led a community-based participatory research project on the health & safety impacts of criminalizing homelessness through an urban camping ban in Denver, CO. The survey results from 484 individuals experiencing homelessness are published in Journal of Social Distress and Homelessness. You can also access and use the ICPSR dataset.
